Understanding the Complexity of Program ManagementYesterday Patrick Byrne and I provided a presentation on ‘Understanding the Complexity of Program Management’ to the Melbourne Chapter of the Project Management Institute. Just over 150 project and program managers attended the session. This was the first time we have exposed our Project Knowledge Model and Business Network Analysis techniques to a public forum of our peers. We have exposed parts of it at times via this blog, the HolisTech website, and in various academic forums, but never before as an integrated package, and as I say never before to our project management peers. I am pleased to report that the presentation was very well received and generated many formal and informal questions – indeed the Chapter President had to cut short the questions session. I’ll blog about the Project Knowledge Model and the integration of Business Network Analysis techniques in the coming days, but in the meantime you can view the presentation at this link. Has knowledge management (KM) been done? Of course KM has been done… But whether formal interventions claiming the label KM are bona fide instances of KM practice is another matter entirely. To answer that question, we need to have clear, non-contradictory ideas about the nature of knowledge, knowledge processing and KM. |
