Re: Visualising Project Programme Risk?

Re: Visualising Project Programme Risk?

  1. One piece of information that seems to be missing is the strength of the ties between projects & risk categories. Is the risk factor simply identified as a "yes/no" for a project or is some measure made of the severity and/or probability of its impact?
  2. I think you'd want to represent the information in the 5th paragraph graphically - i.e. size the projects by # of outgoing links.
  3. The question you ask in paragraph 4: "Perhaps an improvement on the diagram might be to allocate a monetary factor to each risk category?" Presumably a crude way of doing this would be to sum the value of all the projects with that category of risk. But I'm not sure you'd need a network diagram for that. This could then be adapted by the tie strength stuff I mention in point 1.
  4. I think these 2 diagrams are interesting - but much less interesting than the project dependency networks. Another way of visualising this is to think of the risk categories as ties rather than nodes. Which projects share risk categories? How might that be integrated with a project dependency network visualisation?
