Introduction
This page provides some examples of the tools I am using for data collection and analysis for my doctorate, and in my day to day work.
Bibliography
This link will provide you with the compressed Endnote X2 database that I use to manage my bibliography.
This link will take you to the Knowledge Management and Social Network Analysis bibliography in Adobe® PDF format . It is correct as at the 15th of January 2009.
Knowledge Management
Here is a knowledge survey in Adobe® PDF format on the meaning of data, information and knowledge, which takes no more than 10 minutes to complete. This survey has been tested in a number of public sector organisations.
Social Network Analysis

Here is a social network analysis survey in Adobe® PDF format , which takes no more than 10 minutes to complete. This survey has been tested in a number of public sector organisations.
Here is an EXCEL based survey , which takes no more than 10 minutes to complete. I am indebted to Dr Bruce Hoppe of Connective Associates who provided a proven network analysis workbook as a template for this workbook. My workbook is scaleable, easily changed and automated. The Matrix, Compiled and Inputs worksheets should be hidden once the survey is set up and deployed. The workbooks must be renamed to have a SNA prefix (e.g. SNA 1.xls) and reside in a file directory called Data, if they are going to be used in conjunction with the EXCEL based database . The survey has been extensively tested, but is yet to be piloted in a public sector organisation other than the Australian Defence Force.
Here is an EXCEL based database , which consolidates the data from the EXCEL based surveys , providing the survey workbooks names begin with SNA (e.g. SNA 1.xls, SNA 2.xls and so on), and the workbooks reside in a file directory called Data. It also has a button that creates a worksheet with hyperlinks to each of the EXCEL based surveys . The Inputs worksheet on this workbook must mirror the Inputs worksheet on the EXCEL based surveys . The Inputs, Consent and Survey worksheets should be hidden once the survey is set up and deployed. The survey has been extensively tested, but is yet to be piloted in a public sector organisation other than the Australian Defence Force.
